FAVERSHAM 2 – 0 CROYDON FC
Croydon took a dozen minutes before their first shot on target. Jerry Antwi’s cross went to David Green, whose pass to Cameron Beckles was stopped by the home custodian. Then, after Jordan Anderson headed out a corner, Faversham got their chance following a defensive mix up, and despite Tiwa Fujamade palming the ball out, Lee Pankhurst forced the ball into the net in the 23rd minute.
Then two minutes later, the home team got another corner. A clearance from Beckles towards Henry Swann was intercepted by Lee Sayer who managed to find a small gap between Swann and the near post to double the lead.
The turning point may have come towards the end of the first half. There was a period of possession for Croydon only ending in a goal kick for the Force. Then the first half ended with a Croydon corner cleared by the goalkeeper.
The second half started with Henry Swann taken down by an opponent but the resultant free kick went wide of the post. Croydon’s closest chance came after Zach Powell’s free kick, which a defender headed towards goal and almost went in. Assistant Manager Tayler Maddock came on as a substitute, and his cross to Jubril Adamson was cleared by a defender. Then despite pressure from the left back, Adamson almost scored during another attack.
Later, after a corner, Maddock almost scored as well, before a defender almost scored an own goal which the goalkeeper managed to save. There was still a chance of a consolation goal, Maddock looked to cross the ball but got injured in the process, with the subsequent pass to Swann saved by the goalkeeper. The game ended with the home team taking a shot that hit the crossbar.
