MATCH REPORT April 15th – Bridon Ropes 3 – 2 Croydon FC

BRIDON ROPES 3 - 2 CROYDON FC Trams headed east across the prime meridian in the hope of finishing seventh but poor defending meant that their hopes went west. It  started as a meaningless end of season game but gradually livened up. The first shot on target came from Zak Powell on nine when his calculated low drive was pushed wide of the upright and the resulting corner was headed wide of the far post. Bridon broke on seventeen but shot high and wide when a little more composure might have...

MATCH REPORT 10th April – Croydon FC 3 – 1 FC Elmstead

CROYDON FC 3 - 1 FC ELMSTEAD 99 people attended Croydon’s last home match of the season and saw the Trams extend their unbeaten run with another victory To have had an unlikely chance of making the play-offs, Elmstead would have needed a prodigious series of results to run in their favour – that other teams ended any lingering thoughts was an irrelevance as they started with the belief that they could achieve their aim. A golden chance presented itself on nine during a period when they were...

MATCH REPORT April 8th – Bermondsey Town 0 – 1 Croydon FC

BERMONDSEY TOWN 0 - 1 CROYDON FC Following a successful midweek trip to Staplhurst Monarchs, Croydon continued their impressive run with another victory at Bermondsey and with the number of times the Trams hit the woodwork, the scoreline could have been much more convincing!  Errol Mundle had a shot go wide of the near post early on, after his prior shot and one by David Green were blocked by the defence. TJ Clements, who made his debut on Wednesday on a rainy night in Staplehurst, also had a...

MATCH REPORT 5th April – Staplehurst Monarchs 0 – 3 Croydon FC

STAPLEHURST MONARCHS 0 - 3 CROYDON FC With only mid-table pride at stake, this match started slowly albeit with the home team having the upper hand.   Andy Walker was thwarted on eight when the home custodian dived at his feet to snuff out a chance whilst four minutes later, Tiwa Fujamade dived low at his right post to maintain parity.   What was refreshing was that our defence did not procrastinate when the hosts threatened, the ball was summarily wellied clear. A safety first...

MATCH REPORT 25th March – Croydon FC 1 – 1 Faversham Strike Force

CROYDON FC 1 - 1 FAVERSHAM STRIKE FORCE Despite the absence of regular keeper Tiwa Fujamade and the Faversham side being a dominant force in the first half with an early break through, Croydon were able to continue their unbeaten league streak.   Croydon conceded an early free kick, and after only five minutes, Tom Barton put one past former youth goalkeeper Aaron Bogle. Twenty one minutes elapsed before Croydon managed a shot on target, and after a throw in, Henry's shot went straight...

MATCH REPORT 22nd March – Croydon FC 5 – 2 SC Thamesmead

CROYDON FC 5 - 2 SC THAMESMEAD A vital victory was obtained to put a decent gap in the league table between Thamesmead and the Trams.  Yet the struggling visitors looked livelier during the early exchanges and skied one over on but their frail confidence came to the fore after Croydon’s opener.   Good running by Andy Walker put David Green clear to continue his run of goals on seventeen and a minute later, with the bit between his teeth, Eldi Baze missed a glorious opportunity to net...

MATCH REPORT 18th March – Croydon FC 3 – 1 Greenways FC

CROYDON FC 3 - 1 GREENWAYS FC   For once, Croydon scored early in a match, and won in convincing style, courtesy of a well taken David Green hat-trick. The team looked well organised and committed, taking the well-deserved 3 points. The first attempt came from Andy Walker after a cross from Cameron Beckles but failed to reach the target. However, after 16 minutes Springer's cross to Green put the Trams in front. Talking of the first goal, Green said: "Their left back switched off, and I...

MATCH REPORT 11th March – Snodland 1 – 0 Croydon FC

SNODLAND 1 - 1 CROYDON FC Croydon did very well losing by a single goal against the division's leaders, and in the time Croydon were a man down, the Trams were able to keep a clean sheet. As well of this, eight of the squad were out with a virus, and despite this, the game had to go ahead on pain of a fine from the authorities.   Snodland had a couple of early chances cleared before Croydon got a free kick from Henry Swann, who passed to Ollie Beauchamp whose shot hit the bottom of the...

MATCH REPORT 7th March – Meridian VP 1 – 1 Croydon FC

MERIDIAN VP 1 - 1 CROYDON FC What is it with the third minute? Meridian, who have faced an internal upheaval of late, charged at the visitors from the start, penning Trams back in their own half and not giving them time to draw breath. As is their wont, Croydon made their usual poor start failing to close down their hosts and clear their lines. And in the third minute, the ball was played to the right of Trams penalty area to be side-footed low across the face and inside the far upright....

MATCH REPORT 4th March – Croydon FC 2 – 1 Tooting Bec

CROYDON FC 2 - 1 TOOTING BEC Croydon Fc secured a much-needed 3 points with an injury time winner from Errol Mundle clinching a hard- fought 2-1 victory over Tooting Bec. Walker provided the assist for Mundle to finish calmly sparking jubilant scenes behind the goal as the Trams put an end to their recent run of poor form.   Croydon took the lead in the minute 11 slightly against the run of play when Jerry Antwi played a lovely lofted pass into Jubril Adamson who controlled the ball well and...

MATCH REPORT 25th February – Faversham 2 – 0 Croydon FC

FAVERSHAM 2 - 0 CROYDON FC Croydon took a dozen minutes before their first shot on target. Jerry Antwi's cross went to David Green, whose pass to Cameron Beckles was stopped by the home custodian. Then, after Jordan Anderson headed out a corner, Faversham got their chance following a defensive mix up, and despite Tiwa Fujamade palming the ball out, Lee Pankhurst forced the ball into the net in the 23rd minute.   Then two minutes later, the home team got another corner. A clearance from...

MATCH REPORT 23rd February – Lewisham Borough 3 – 0 Croydon FC

LEWISHAM BOROUGH 3 - 0 CROYDON FC Unfortunately, Trams were like Ladywell Arena’s floodlights, failing to shine all evening and they didn’t help themselves by conceding in the first three minutes, after Lewisham broke clear, forced a corner which wasn’t cleared and grabbed an early lead with a shot that squeezed inside the right upright. Buoyed by this success, Lewisham showed more hunger, chasing, harrying and not letting Trams settle on the ball. On eleven, Henry Swann placed a free-kick...
