Croydon FC v K Sports 16th September

Croydon FC v K Sports 16th September

CROYDON FC 7 - 1 K SPORTS Croydon won 7-1 against K Sports who had been top of the table until recently.  The match started with Sammy Morgan hitting the bar with a great strike from distance. Harvey Morton's first goal came after some good work from Lauris Chin, who played Morton in who calmly rounded the keeper and scored his first goal in the 17th minute.  Herve Mbongue equalised after 29 minutes for K Sports and the first half ended all square before things really took off after the break....

Croydon FC v Canterbury City 9th September

CROYDON FC 2 - 3 CANTERBURY CITY Croydon took the lead at the Arena only to lose against Canterbury City, who were relegated from the SCEFL Premier Division at the end of last season.   City could've taken the lead in the first minute when a chance was saved by George Kamurasi but the first goal came from debutant Tristan Noel. A cross came his way which he scored from close range. Croydon then got a couple of corners (the second headed over the bar), before Sammy Morgan had another...

Bridon Ropes vs Croydon FC 6th September

BRIDON ROPES 0 - 5 CROYDON  FC Injuries forced a changed defensive central pairing and early on, Bridon looked as though they might cause them some problems. The hosts headed over on seven before Croydon almost caused themselves problems with a fatuous appeal for offside, the danger being averted by conceding a corner which was headed back across and over the bar.   Croydon did settle and started putting some attacking moves together, only a reaction save from the home custodian keeping...

FC Elmstead vs Croydon FC 2nd September

FC ELMSTEAD 1 - O CROYDON fc Despite the absences of Aaron Bogle, Aaron Reber, and Jordan Anderson, there were high hopes with the return of Ulrich Fischer, and assistant manager Tayler Maddock making an appearance as well.   The game started in a lively fashion with chances for both teams through the first half: A Croydon free kick towards Jordan Samuels was cleared. Elmstead then also got a free kick that Maddock defended, clearing the ball to Chin but Cameron McGovern gave away a throw...

Croydon v Lewisham Borough

Croydon v Lewisham Borough

CROYDON FC 3 - 4 LEWISHAM BOROUGH The last time we won on August Bank Holiday was way back in 2017 when beating Wandsworth & Norwood at Mayfields. Lewisham have also held ongoing sway over Croydon at The Arena which continued this time.   It was nevertheless an entertaining encounter with play going from end-to-end in the first half despite it being goalless. David Green flashed one across the goal on two whilst the visitors sent in a couple of soft shots before rattling the crossbar on...

Croydon v Shoreham

CROYDON FC 3 - 2 SHOREHAM TOWN Croydon are through to the next round of the Isuzu FA Vase with a trip to Lordswood on Saturday 23 September beckoning It only took three minutes for Croydon to take the lead. A Sammy Morgan corner reached Kieron Rufus, and David Green's shot managed to squeeze past the inside of the far post. He wasn't as lucky eight minutes later when a shot from long range ended wide of the near post. Following passes from Andy Walker and Jordan Samuel, Aaron Reber had a go...

MATCH REPORT August 12th – Croydon FC 1 – 2 Faversham Strike Force

CROYDON FC 1 - 2 FAVERSHAM STRIKE FORCE For a second week running, Croydon took the lead and had multiple chances to kill the game off but conceded late on, to give away the points.   There were hopes of a clean sheet with the return of captain Jordan Anderson this weekend but Faversham scored an early goal, only for it to be disallowed for offside. This was followed by a cross to Lauris Chin in the fourth minute, only for him to miss before Chin passed to Sammy Morgan, only for the ball...

MATCH REPORT August 12th – Croydon FC 1 – 1 Greenways

croydon fc 1 - 1 greenways This was a game that Trams could have won by a decent margin with better finishing and ultimately just held onto a point by the skin of their teeth with a suspicion of fitness needing to improve..  Croydon took the lead in the third minute when the industrious Cameron McGovern put Lauris Chin clear to round the advancing goalkeeper and slide the ball home. However, they failed to build on this advantage throughout the afternoon.  There was some sporadic but useful...

MATCH REPORT August 5th – Larkfield & New Hythe 6 – 3 Croydon FC

larkfield & new hythe 6 - 3 CROYDON FC Croydon lost 6-3 in their opening League match of the season. Surprisingly, it was not the first time they lost 6-3 in their opening match, having lost by the same score against Hitchin Town back in 1990. There was another surprise in store, as the team line up revealed that former Trams striker Andy Somo had rejoined Croydon, having left Whitehawk.  The first chance of the season came after a pass from David Green to Harvey Morton, whose shot was...

MATCH REPORT April 15th – Bridon Ropes 3 – 2 Croydon FC

BRIDON ROPES 3 - 2 CROYDON FC Trams headed east across the prime meridian in the hope of finishing seventh but poor defending meant that their hopes went west. It  started as a meaningless end of season game but gradually livened up. The first shot on target came from Zak Powell on nine when his calculated low drive was pushed wide of the upright and the resulting corner was headed wide of the far post. Bridon broke on seventeen but shot high and wide when a little more composure might have...
