Croydon FC v Canterbury City 25th November

Croydon FC v Canterbury City 25th November

CROYDON FC 5 - 3 CANTERBURY CITY FC This Kent Senior Trophy tie was a curate’s egg of a game with some good and some bad. Canterbury attended Albert Road as one of Croydon’s bogey sides and looked as though they might well go away with another result under their belt. Trams had previously won one and drawn two of the clubs eleven encounters and threw away three points during the league encounter back in August. Winter made its first real appearance this afternoon with a chill wind blowing as...

Croydon FC v Lewisham Borough 15th November

CROYDON FC 0 - 0 LEWISHAM BOROUGH There are goalless draws that are insipid and easily forgettable but this did not fit in that category. It was a high energy encounter which had both teams going for it – Trams to regain the ground lost in the away game, Lewisham to put distance on the others in the group. Trams had the edge early on and had a number of chances, Uli Fischer having a wild blast on fourteen, Adam Allen sending a couple of powerful drives in the goalkeeper's direction and Jahquan...

CLUB STATEMENT: Oliver Spedding RIP

OLIVER SPEDDING RIP Croydon FC are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former player, Oliver Spedding. Oliver played for the club over a couple of spells and was a much loved individual who always gave his utmost effort for the team. Oliver will be hugely missed by everyone at the club and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time. There will be a minute’s silence at this Saturday's home match in memory of Oliver, with a further tribute to follow in the...

Croydon FC v SC Thamesmead 11th November

CROYDON FC 2 - 0 SC THAMESMEAD The first real chill of the impending winter heralded the first of four consecutive home fixtures and floodlights were on for most of the second half. After the high intensity performance of seven days earlier, this was understandably a  step down but a valuable three points and clean sheet. Thamesmead have had a horrible start to the season and recently introduced a new management team and squad with a bounce from this reorganisation apparent in patches.  ...

AFC Whyteleafe v Croydon FC 4th November

AFC WHYTLEAFE 2 - 2 CROYDON FC Trams may not have won but this performance was generally all that the previous two were not! It was, to use the old cliche, a game of two halves with the team kicking up the slope generally on top.   Croydon kicked towards the stand and from the off, gave a high energy performance and didn’t let the table toppers settle on the ball. As early as two minutes saw Sam Morgan’s low centre met by Ryan Palmer but his low shot was palmed round the post. The corner was...

Meridian VP v Croydon FC 31st October

Meridian VP v Croydon FC 31st October

MERIDIAN VP 2 - 0 CROYDON FC Croydon are out of the SCEFL Challenge Cup after a defeat at an increasingly wet Meridian VP.    Christian Ibitoye opened Meridian's account after only five minutes, going past Jordan Anderson and crossing towards the far post behind George Kamurasi. James Ayetine then had an attempt and was taken down in the penalty box only for the referee to decide for a goal kick. Ryan Palmer had the next opportunity but his shot was saved by Meridian keeper Harry Graham....

Lewisham Borough v Croydon FC 28 October

LEWISHAM BOROUGH 3 - 2 CROYDON FC The promise shown in recent weeks failed to manifest itself on this autumn afternoon – it was the same for both sides, both rested certain players for forthcoming - and what are perceived as more important – fixtures.   Trams started brightly, forcing a corner after twenty seconds but the flag kick was easily snaffled by the goalkeeper. Uli Fischer was forced out of the game on seven with a dislocated finger and Trams had lost their figurehead, henceforth...

Croydon FC v Tooting Bec 21st October

CROYDON FC 3 - 1 TOOTING BEC On a day where the only Trams running were on the pitch at Croydon Sports Arena, and not at Arena tramstop, Croydon continued to rise up the league table and extended their unbeaten run to five wins in a row.   The first half was a non-descript affair with play going from penalty area to penalty area but rarely beyond. There were only a couple of shots in this opening period, one on seventeen minutes when Ryan Palmer intercepted an opponent, the ball running...

Rochester Utd v Croydon FC 14th October

ROCHESTER UTD 1 - 2 CROYDON FC Croydon are through to the next round of the Kent Senior Trophy after winning 2-1 at Rochester United. This was something of a surprise, as Rochester are currently second in their division and were only beaten once this season.   With George Kamurasi away, Sam Penney-Hughes, from Durham University, was brought in to wear the number 1 shirt for Croydon. It looked like he would keep a clean sheet in this game, but would concede in the 89th...

Croydon FC v Forest Hill Park 7th October

CROYDON FC 4 - 1 FOREST HILL PARK Before kick off, there was a minute's silence to pay tribute to Elianne Andam as well as those in the Borough of Croydon who lost their lives to knife crime in the last year.    Croydon continued to go up the SCEFL Division One table, following another high scoring match involving the Trams.   A pass from James Ayetine to Lauris Chin was saved by what looked like a header from goalkeeper Matt Bailey. Unfortunately, it actually hit his face and he was...

Bridon Ropes v Croydon FC 4th October

BRIDON ROPES 0 - 2 CROYDON FC If Croydon thought that we were going to roll over the hosts in the same way as we did in the league fixture, then we quickly learnt that their recent managerial change had made them sterner stuff and much better organised. A fatuous appeal for offside in the second minute almost cost Trams but luckily an opposition forward hit the rebound wide. Four minutes later, Adam Allen latched on to a ball from the right and crashed it against the post.   The home team...

Staplehurst Monarchs v Croydon FC 30th September

STAPLEHURST MONARCHS 1 - 2 CROYDON FC Croydon moved up to tenth place after winning against a tough Staplehurst side.   The home side had a good start, with an opening shot that went wide of the post followed by a chance from close range that was saved by George Kamurasi. He also made another save after facing opponents from all directions. A Monarchs free kick went to Chin, who went down the wing and passed to Ulrich Fischer,  who passed back to Chin only for his chance to be blocked by...

Lordswood v Croydon FC 23rd September

LORDSWOOD 4 - 1 CROYDON FC Despite more possession compared to their opponents, Croydon are out of the FA Vase.    Lordswood's first goal came after seven minutes when Artem Kuchkov went past Croydon's defenders and passed to Callum Peck to put Wood a goal up. Croydon almost equalised a minute later when Sammy Morgan was taken down and Croydon got a free kick. Harvey Morton's free kick hit the bottom off the post, and off the rebound Lauris Chin missed the target.   There were passes...

Croydon FC v K Sports 16th September

CROYDON FC 7 - 1 K SPORTS Croydon won 7-1 against K Sports who had been top of the table until recently.  The match started with Sammy Morgan hitting the bar with a great strike from distance. Harvey Morton's first goal came after some good work from Lauris Chin, who played Morton in who calmly rounded the keeper and scored his first goal in the 17th minute.  Herve Mbongue equalised after 29 minutes for K Sports and the first half ended all square before things really took off after the break....

Croydon FC v Canterbury City 9th September

CROYDON FC 2 - 3 CANTERBURY CITY Croydon took the lead at the Arena only to lose against Canterbury City, who were relegated from the SCEFL Premier Division at the end of last season.   City could've taken the lead in the first minute when a chance was saved by George Kamurasi but the first goal came from debutant Tristan Noel. A cross came his way which he scored from close range. Croydon then got a couple of corners (the second headed over the bar), before Sammy Morgan had another...
